FAQs

How much is my house going to cost?

Great Question! However, we need more information to answer that. It’s kind of like asking how much does a car cost? Is it a Rolls-Royce, a Porsche, or a Mercedes? When buying a car, it might be available with different features. The same idea applies to homes, only unlike a car your home is not designed yet so we have very little information to go by in the beginning to determine the cost. We do bespoke homes designed uniquely for you.

After we spend some time talking about how big the house is, what features it should have, and what type of materials we are using then we would be able to prepare a more accurate estimate of the cost.

How long does it take to design a house?

Our process includes 4 phases: Pre-design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents. Depending on the house, this could take from 3-5 months.

How long does it take to get a building permit?

In the City of Houston, it takes about 3-4 months depending on some variables.

How long does it take to build my house?

Each home is unique, but it would be good to plan on it requiring 12-14 months depending on the details of your home.

Why should I work with Albany Studio and why design-build?

  • We have an Integrated Design-Build approach. Our firm is equipped to handle both the design and the construction for a seamless transition between every phase of the project to result in an efficient project delivery.

  • Our Design-Build approach also positions us to have the best control over maintaining the original design intent through the construction.

  • As we work with clients through the design phase, we gain a thorough understanding of how best to meet the specific needs and vision of the client as our team will be intimately acquainted with the project knowing the full history of the design going into the construction.

  • Lower risk of fumbling the ball or coordination of details as any project hand-off happens in-house.

  • More control over the budget as the design team is more familiar with construction costs as the design team is also the construction team.

  • Better communication since the architect and builder are the same team.
